Questions

What ELD documents must be in the cab?

The ELD user manual, an instruction sheet for transferring data to an inspector, a malfunction instruction sheet and at least 8 days of blank paper log sheets (49 CFR 395.22(h)). They can be paper or electronic where allowed.

Does the driver need a paper medical card?

For CDL drivers, since June 23, 2025, the medical status is on the MVR. Non-CDL drivers still carry the paper certificate.

How many days of logs must the driver show?

The current day and the previous 7 days.

Educational resource, not legal advice. Confirm every item in the current 49 CFR (ecfr.gov) and with FMCSA before acting.
